Jerry Matheson Park is a 10-acre city-owned park across from Juergens Park located at 1240 Ulrich. The park was named after the late Tomball City Council member Jerry Matheson. There are 56 parking spots available, including five that are designated for handicap parking. The small pavilion features six picnic tables, providing shaded seating where you can relax and watch your kids play on the expansive wooden interactive playground. The playground includes two park benches for seating. Additionally, there are two barbeque pits near the pavilion and seven trash cans strategically placed throughout the park.
The park features:
- Large interactive Playground area – The playground offers an expansive and interactive environment, equipped with a variety of engaging features. Priority use of the pavilion is available by reservation. Reservations may be made by contacting the Public Works Department at (281) 290-1400. A NON-refundable rental fee, a completed application, and verification that you understand the park rules and regulations are required to confirm a reservation. The reserving party must clean the pavilion immediately after the function is over. See our Park Facility Reservations Form and City park rules. - Swimming Pool – The pool is a fully equipped facility managed by the City of Tomball, featuring restrooms, water fountains, and showers. The pool area includes a splash pad designed for children of all ages. The splash pad features ground nozzles that spray water upwards, shower-style elements activated by motion sensors, a slide, and dumping buckets, ensuring a fun and engaging experience for everyone. - Pee-Wee Baseball Field – This field is a small, fenced area. It is not equipped with lighting but is an excellent field for a family baseball game. There is a small set of bleachers alongside the field. The field is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations accepted.
- Pickleball Courts – There are four fenced pickleball courts, regulation size. The courts are lighted and are on a timer. Please contact us for reservations, or see our Sports Court Reservation Form.
- Tennis Courts – There are four fenced tennis courts. The courts are lighted and are on a timer. Also, there are six benches inside the courts for the convenience of watching matches or setting your belongings on them. Solicitation of, administering, or receiving paid instructions, lessons, or therapy and the sales of any merchandise at this public facility is strictly prohibited.
