Report all potholes to the Public Works Department (281) 290-1400.
What causes potholes?
Traffic: traffic that is too heavy for the pavement and natural aging of the pavement can cause cracks in the street.
Water: water can soften the pavement through the cracks in the surface and over time, the material will shift to where there is no support left for the pavement.
Weather: when the weather is hot, the road surfaces have a greater chance of cracking because the heat causes stress on the pavement. During the winter, the water in the ground can freeze and thaw, making the ground expand and then contract, which causes cracks in the pavement.
